23.04. 25 | Dyang to Namrung – 2650m

Updated: Apr 24, 2025

After a rainy evening, we woke to a sunlit morning and the kind of fresh mountain air that instantly lifts your mood. The views opened up around us as the clouds cleared, and we picked up the trail once again—still following the Budhi Gandaki River as it winds its way through the villages.

Today we climbed 1,200 meters and reached Namrung at 2,650 meters, where we’re staying for the night. The trail felt steeper and tougher.

We crossed into the Buddhist region today, and the energy changed. Suddenly we are surrounded by Mani stones, Chortens, and fluttering prayer flags. The path became more than just a trek—it started to feel like a journey into something deeper.

At one point, we were lucky enough to witness a Buddhist ceremony. The monks were sitting for hours and chanting, praying for the health of the forest. Imagine making time—not finding it, but truly making it—to sit and chant all day, for something beyond yourself. It made me reflect on our world back home, where we’re always rushing, always “too busy“. There’s so much to learn from these monks.

These long days—filled with steady climbs, warm sun, and the challenge that needs to be endured - are reminding me of something valuable. To slow down. To be fully present, to stay grounded and to move forward with an open heart. It might sound simple, even a little cliché—but living that way, truly, is harder than it seems.

And then… there’s the food. Always my favorite part. Today I discovered Sherpa’s stew, also known as Thenduk—a hearty bowl of homemade noodles, potatoes, egg, and curry-flavored broth. Pure comfort. For breakfast, we had Tsampa, made from roasted and ground barley—a healthy, nutty alternative to porridge, and a real local staple.

Every day, something shifts. In the altitude, in the landscape, in me.

Today's impressions, again including a few Faces of Nepal.
